Victoria Gordon
Victoria first discovered the beneficial effects of yoga while in high school. When studying for tests or while encountering writer's block, she noted that inversions (headstands and handstands) helped her focus-some of the clearest ideas came to her while upside down!
Throughout college, Victoria relied on practicing a few poses each day, after her daily run. Not long after graduating from college, yoga became more than a helpful accessory to her cool down routine but a vital component to feeling more energized and centered. Once she moved to New York, Victoria completed the 200-hour Teacher Training Program at New York Yoga in 2006. In the fall of 2008 she completed her training in yoga for kids at Little Flower Yoga in Manhattan and has since attended numerous workshops and continuing yoga education classes ranging from prenatal and mommy-and-me yoga, to breathing and meditation courses.
For the past six years Victoria has been teaching yoga for Preschool and Kindergarten children at the Rodeph Sholom School in Manhattan. While she occasionally teaches at the school now, she devotes most of her teaching time to working with private clients (individuals, couple and families) in their homes. She also leads several vinyasa flow classes each week at Iron and Silk Fitness, a boutique personal training gym in New York City.
Victoria continues to deepen her practice by being a perennial student herself. Her favorite part about being a teacher is learning from her students, watching them grow with their practice and guide them to foster their own "teacher within."
